Q:
Do applications need to be sent certified mail?
A:
No. Applications should NOT be sent certified mail. In addition, applications should not be sent by any method which would require a signature prior to delivery.
Q:
Can I submit a handwritten application?
A:
No. As stated on the application, handwritten applications will not be accepted.
Q:
Am I eligible to receive a scholarship if I’m planning to graduate mid year (December)?
A:
Yes. However, you would only be eligible to receive 1/2 of the scholarship amount.
Q:
Am I eligible to receive a scholarship multiple years?
A:
Yes. You must submit an application each year with updated information.
Q:
Can I apply for a scholarship if I am a college freshman?
A:
No, as stated on the application, you must have completed two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum 3.2 overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale (United States) or 80% and above (Canada) and are enrolled in a full time program.
Q:
If I don’t have complete information on my form, should I go ahead and send what I have completed and then send remaining detail as received?
A:
No, partial applications will not be accepted. All information should be mailed at one time.

Are graduate students eligible for the scholarships?
A:
Yes.

Why are University Tax ID Numbers requested?
A:
The Desk and Derrick Educational Trust is a 501.C3 organization, and the Internal revenue service requires that the University Tax ID numberb be maintained by the Trust.
Q:
Will I be notified if I am a recipient of a scholarship?
A:
Yes, you will receive an award notification letter. Letters are usually mailed out around mid to late May.

Will I be notified if I don’t receive a scholarship?
A:
No, please check our website (theeducationaltrust.org) to see a listing of the scholarship recipients.

Do I need a certain number of hours to apply?
A:
Again, you must have completed two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum 3.2 overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale (United States) or 80% and above (Canada) and are enrolled in a full time program.

How many scholarships are awarded annually?
A:
The number varies year to year. In the past 5 years, the Trust has awarded from 11 to 18 scholarships each year with the dollar amounts ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 per scholarship.
